I am running for the Montana Legislature in HD75 because I care deeply about the people of my community. We are facing extremely difficult times in many ways. First, our democracy itself is under siege. Both the U.S. and Montana constitutions are being ignored, which only leads to authoritarian governments. We must remain a nation of the rule of law. The ongoing voter rights issues manifest in various forms, threatening our democratic values. Second, it is becoming increasingly difficult for families to afford basic necessities. Prices continue to rise while wages remain largely stagnant. The key concerns include housing, health care, groceries, and childcare. Our public schools, which are the foundation of a strong democracy, face widespread shortages of teachers and funding for facilities.
It is time to focus on these issues and not be drawn into so-called 'culture wars' as a distraction. If we roll up our sleeves, we can address the pressing concerns that affect most of us. My experience and education provide me with the background needed to represent the people of this district competently, as demonstrated in the Pat Sullivan campaign.

Any measure designed to restrict voting, such as the recent Montana legislation requiring additional identification, poses a threat to democracy. These efforts, often seen in the HD75 district, are forms of voter suppression. Our election officials, who are committed to upholding voter rights issues, already check for identification to ensure fair elections. The aggressive push for these measures appears to be a solution in search of a problem, especially considering that the incidence of voter fraud is extremely rare. The Pat Sullivan campaign stands firm against these restrictive practices.

It is pretty clear that prices for necessities are out of reach for many Montanans, a situation that has caught the attention of the Pat Sullivan campaign. It is pretty clear that prices for necessities are out of reach for many Montanans, a situation that has caught the attention of the Pat Sullivan campaign. Housing costs put a strain on many in the state, especially young families, partly due to the number of single-family homes being bought by companies for use as VRBO or Airbnb units. To address this, we need to implement Montana legislation that uses tax policy to discourage this practice. While I don’t object to entrepreneurs taking advantage of such opportunities, it would be better if they focused on building multi-family units instead of single-family homes. Grocery prices are also putting a strain on families, and we should consider more farm-to-table strategies to help alleviate this pressure. Additionally, childcare is becoming prohibitively expensive, making it financially adverse for many parents to work outside the home while managing on one income is extremely difficult. I know this firsthand, and it is crucial that we advocate for voter rights issues to ensure that every Montanan has a voice in addressing these challenges.

Our public schools are the very foundation of our democracy, established for that very purpose. Currently, we are providing sufficient funding to our schools, although some of it is being diverted to charter schools, including religious institutions. It is critical that we support quality education, especially in light of current Montana legislation affecting funding distribution. The fixation on standardized tests has created more problems than it has solved, which is a concern highlighted in the Pat Sullivan campaign. Education must adapt to the times, placing greater emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, we need to strengthen vocational-technical training to address voter rights issues, as we require more skilled professionals in these vital areas.
Patrick grew up as a Navy dependent, moving around extensively. He enlisted in the Navy himself, serving for over six years. Shortly after he was discharged, he moved to Montana, where he became involved in local issues, including Montana legislation. Using the G.I. Bill, he attended the University of Montana, where he received his BA in History/Political Science and his Master of Public Administration degrees. He then worked at Dawson Community College for a few years before being awarded a fellowship from the University of Southern California, where he completed his Doctor of Public Administration degree. After serving as a faculty member at UM for a while, he struck out on his own as a consultant, helping with organizational issues and community development, especially focusing on voter rights issues. Feeling a calling, he attended seminary and completed his M.Div degree from the Franciscan School of Theology, though it was decided that the priesthood was not to be. He then worked for 10 years building fences for Grizzly Fence in Missoula. Later, he was hired as a professor at Southern Arkansas University, running the MPA program there. When an opportunity arose for him to return to Montana, he seized it and became the Director of the State Professional Development Center in Helena for ten years, until his retirement. During this time, he also followed the Pat Sullivan campaign closely, which focused on important state matters.
Patrick is the father of two children, grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of two. His family is the joy of his life. He enjoys outdoor activities of all kinds, including camping, fishing, and golf.
